The Importance of a Historical Consultant in Life

Historical consultant is a work that is still common in Indonesia. While there are already a number of people who have been involved in the company and are only independent. Though the need for a history consultant in Indonesia is very large.


In his remarks, the directorate of history conveyed that the demand for museum consultants increased every year, mainly from the private sector. This is due to the heightened awareness of the major private companies, especially in wrapping their annual events in the form of cultural events.

However, the existence of a historical consultant in Indonesia is still lacking in terms of its professional competency certification. The lack of historians who are willing to take the competency test until the historian competency test is still new in Indonesia is the problem. Because in becoming a professional historian, it is not only a matter of being able to write history properly and correctly, but also the problem of applying the code of ethics in his work as a historian.

In one case, when historians were asked to look for data to win a race for land, their objectivity as a historian was questionable. So in the professionalism of a Historical Consultant, there is an ethics in which a historical consultant must prioritize objectivity in historical research.

History consultants can be job choices for history graduates, who for the most part have always been teachers, working in the civil service office, museum employees. Historical consultant is a promising job but there are also conditions that must be met, one of which is to take certification as proof of the professionalism of a historian.
