When Wardiman Djojonegoro was scolded by Bang Ali
Ali Sadikin is known to be fond of spraying his men, including Wardiman Djojonegoro. Nevertheless, he still respects Bang Ali.
When he was the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ali Sadikin was attached to the bad temper. His emotions are often overflowing. It is not uncommon to curse out of the spoken speech of the governor, who is familiarly called Bang Ali.

Wardiman had served as Head of the DKI Jakarta Regional Government Bureau Head between 1966-1979. During that time, Wardiman accompanied Ali Sadikin, especially in handling protocol duties. Wardiman knew exactly how Bang Ali would behave when he was annoyed if the tasks and projects of the DKI Regional Government were not carried out properly.
When PON VII was held in Surabaya, Bang Ali promised a bonus for Jakarta athletes who excel. Those who offered medals included Indrajati Sidi, winner of the five branches of the competition. To Indrajati, DKI Jakarta Regional Government gave him a vacation package to Singapore and Bangkok, Thailand. Wardiman was assigned to prepare athletes for departure to Bangkok. But Wardiman forgot to inform the Indonesian Ambassador in Bangkok about their arrival.
"As a result, I was scolded by Ali Sadikin and the words 'zoo' came out," Wardiman recalled.
The next incident, one time the DKI Jakarta sports contingent returned from Lampung by boat after winning the match. Ali Sadikin called Wardiman in preparation for the reception. Said Bang Ali, "Man, prepare the music corps to welcome."
Wardiman placed the music corps in front of the guest tent. Seeing that, Bang Ali got angry. Ali wants the music corps to be put on the dock where the ship is docked. Worse for Wardiman. He was also abused by Bang Ali.
The story of Bang Ali's dampratan for Wardiman continues. In 1969, Singaporean President Yusuf bin Ishak visited Jakarta. The Singapore flag should fly at City Hall. Wardiman was negligent again. He forgot to give instructions to fly it. The negligence, according to Wardiman, was unconsciously influenced by the incident of the hanging of two Navy Corps (KKo) soldiers, Usman and Harun. The incident sparked the emotions of the Indonesian people, including Wardiman
"As a result, Ali Sadikin once again cursed me angry," Wardiman said.
In addition, Wardiman also witnessed Ali Sadikin's anger at the Hotel Indonesia. At that time, Hotel Indonesia was the only prestigious hotel in Jakarta while Ali Sadikin was visiting foreign delegates. Apparently someone reported that the foreign guests of Bang Ali did not get a room.
To overcome it. Ali Sadikin visited the Hotel Indonesia Manager, a foreign national. While holding and lifting his collar, Bang Ali threatened, "If the delegation from abroad does not get a room, I will remove you from Indonesia." As a result, a number of domestic guests who stayed at the hotel were forced to carry luggage to move to another lodging.
According to Wardiman, Ali Sadikin's leadership system was fast paced and demanded there was always a 'check and recheck'. Thus, as long as he was subordinate to Bang Ali, the bureau he led was always the final checkpoint. No wonder Wardiman understands the behavior of Bang Ali. Starting from the vision and mission to build Jakarta, leadership style, to the temperament is fairly high.
"When Ali Sadikin became governor, his priority was to prepare the standard of living for Jakarta residents to be better, but now I am afraid we have lost the target," Wardiman recalls.
